Shoulder impingement is a common condition where the rotator cuff tendons or bursa in the shoulder become compressed or pinched. This can cause pain, weakness and limited movements. It is often caused by repetitive movements in athletes, manual workers but also in the normal population. Treatment include rest, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID), injections with cortisone or platelet-rich plasma. In some cases surgery is needed.
