Full thickness tears involve the entire tendon and are also associated with retraction of the torn tendon.
They can be either acute or chronic. In acute tears surgery is often the best option and have predictable good outcomes.
In chronic tears, the amount of retraction is associated with clinical outcomes. Also the ability to repair these can be jeopardized.
